Can I use this LED strip outside?

Yes, the LED strip has an IP65 protection certificate, which means it is waterproof and protected against dust and moisture. You can easily install it under canopies, on balconies or terraces. However, please note that the power supply and controller are not waterproof and must be installed in a dry place.

How do I shorten the LED strip to the desired length?

The tape can be easily cut with scissors at specific and marked locations (copper contact points along the tape). Cutting outside of these markings may damage the functionality of a particular segment of the tape.

What does the kit contain?

• Surface preparation: Since the IP65 tape is coated with a silicone layer, it is slightly heavier than regular tapes. Before sticking, thoroughly clean the surface and degrease it with alcohol. Make sure it is completely dry, otherwise the adhesive tape will not provide long-term adhesion.

• Layout planning: Before attaching the tape, test the operation of all colors with the controller. If you need to shorten the tape, do so only at the marked points (marked with scissors).

• Sealing after cutting: Important: After each cut of the IP65 tape, the waterproof protection at the cut point is destroyed. To maintain the IP65 standard, the cut point must be resealed with a silicone plug or quick-drying transparent silicone to prevent moisture from entering the electrical contacts.

• Installation: Apply the tape evenly to the surface. Due to the silicone layer, we recommend using additional mounting clips (if included in the set) or an aluminum profile, as the adhesive tape on the silicone surface may peel off over time due to temperature fluctuations.

Useful tips for assembly:

• Maintenance and cleaning: The silicone coating makes the strap more susceptible to dust accumulation. Clean with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh cleaners as they can permanently damage the silicone coating, making it dull or brittle.

• Temperature stability: Although the tape is moisture resistant, silicone loses its flexibility more quickly at high temperatures. Avoid placing directly above sources of intense heat (e.g. hobs, radiators).

• Wet use: The strip is great for bathrooms (not in direct proximity to water), patios under canopies or kitchen counter lighting. Always make sure the controller and power supply (which are often not IP65) are installed in a dry area protected from water.

• Power supply and controller protection: Warning: Only the LED strip has an IP65 protection level , not the power supply, controller or remote control. All electronic parts (power supply and controller) must be kept in a dry and ventilated place. Their exposure to moisture may cause a short circuit or electric shock.

• Submersible limitations: IP65 means that the tape is resistant to jets of water and moisture, but is not intended for immersion in water (e.g. swimming pools, aquariums). Using it underwater will quickly lead to the destruction of the tape.

• Installation Safety: Always turn off the power supply before installation. Do not bend the strip at extreme angles (less than 90 degrees) as this may damage the silicone protection and cause the internal conductors to break.

• Prohibition of unauthorized interventions: Any modification of the tape, replacement of connectors with inappropriate or unprotected pieces voids the warranty and poses a high risk of electric shock in a humid environment.
